Focus for New Moon Meditation 11/6/2010:
The Fool, Owl, and Carnelian

For this meditation, let's focus on 3 energies:  the archetype of The Fool, who asks us to live our lives with courage and joy; the gemstone Carnelian, which works with the Orange Ray, the color of the 2nd chakra; and the animal Owl, particularly Barn Owl, who asks us to bring wisdom, magic, and perception to our conscious awareness.  I'll present a bit about each of these qualities and you bring your own knowldege and responses into your awareness.

The Fool is always stepping into renewal and growth.
And for the new moon, what a beautiful symbol for developing something new - a new idea, a new project, a new awareness.  The Fool requires that we do this from a place of ecstacy and joy; that we do it because we want to, because it lights our fire; not because we think we should or because we think it is expected of us.  So when we call in this big energy - this is an archetype that works with us our whole lives - step into trust and the energy of the heart rather than the head.  Move forward with courage and joy.

In his book Animal Speak, Ted Andrews says, "The owl is a bird of the night, and the night has long been a symbol of the darkness within - the place in which humans hide their secrets...Owls are the eyes of the night, and they see what is not in the open."  Owls also have an exquisite sense of hearing.  Owl asks us to look clearly with our inner vision, to hear our inner voices, and to understand our inner desires.  Owl flies silently, so it reflects this quietness to us:  become still and look deep within to know clearly who we are.

The gemstone Carnelian is the color of the 2nd Chakra or Belly Chakra, Orange.  The 2ndchakra is all about relationship: relationship to the external world - money, creativity and manifesting, sensuality, friends, bosses, coworkers, partners.  It's about balancedrelationships and equality in relationships.  Are we in right-relationship with our external world?  Do we stand in our own power?  The 2nd chakra is really the physical seat of our power.  Are we authentic in our relationships?  Do we show up as ourselves in our relationships?  And because Owl was the animal that came to me to be included in this meditation, I think that what we are being asked to look at is not so much our external relationships, but our internal relationship.  How are we with ourselves?  Do we bring courage and joy to everything we do?  Are we at ease and truly ourselves when we are alone?  Are we connected with our creativity?

Let Owl help us see.
